Alcohol Awareness Week 2026 – Alcohol and Me
This week marks the start of national Alcohol Awareness Week (6th-12th July 2026). Led by Alcohol Change UK, this years theme is ‘Alcohol and Me.’
It’s an invitation for everyone to pause, step back from social pressures, and honestly ask yourself:
What role is alcohol playing in my life?
At The Well Communities, we want to take that question one step further, because for many people who have struggled with alcohol, focusing soley on the ‘Me’ can feel lonely and overwhelming. We know that real, lasting change happens when the ‘Me’ becomes the ‘We.’
Moving beyond judgementÂ
In our culture, alcohol is often treated as the default setting of social gatherings. It’s at the centre of football matches, Summer BBQs, Friday nights after a stressful work week, and even simple supermarket trips. Because alcohol is everwhere, it’s easy to let habits creep up on us.
Alcohol Awareness Week isn’t about finger pointing, or making people feel guilty. It’s about honest reflection. Alcohol can impact our lives in ways we don’t always connect right away, including:
- Disrupted sleep patterns and constant low energy
- Spikes in daily anixety, depressions, or mood swings
- Strained relationships with patners, children, and friends
- A lingering sense of just ‘holding it together’ on the outside
If you’re starting to notice these signs, you’re not failing, you’re just human. And definitely not alone.
The power of lived experience
What makes The Well Communities different is that we have walked in these exact shoes. As a peer-led rececovery organisation our staff understands what it takes to face up to a difficult relationship with alcohol.
“We don’t look at you as a statistic or a clinical case to be solved. We look at you as a future member of our community.”
