Bay 5k Recovery Run

The Bay 5K Recovery Run is about hope, resilience, and connection.
More than just a running event, it is a celebration of recovery and the positive changes that can happen when people are supported to build healthier, more meaningful lives. The event recognises the important role that physical activity, community, and wellbeing can play in recovery journeys, creating a space where people can come together, share encouragement, and demonstrate that recovery is not only possible, it’s something to be celebrated.
Exercise can be a powerful tool in recovery from substance misuse. Regular physical activity has been shown to improve mental wellbeing, reduce stress and anxiety, boost self-confidence, and create healthy routines that support long-term recovery. Running, walking, and other forms of movement can provide a positive outlet, helping people reconnect with themselves, build resilience, and experience a sense of achievement and purpose.
Bringing together individuals in recovery, family members, friends, professionals, and supporters from across the community.
Whether you’re taking part to mark your own recovery journey, to support someone you care about, or simply to stand alongside those affected by addiction, every step taken helps raise awareness, challenge stigma, and promote hope.
This event is a reminder that recovery does not happen in isolation. It grows through connection, encouragement, and opportunities to experience health and wellbeing in supportive environments. By coming together for the Bay 5K Recovery Run, we celebrate strength, determination, and the countless recovery journeys taking place in our communities every day.
Join us as we run, walk, and move forward together because recovery is worth celebrating.

There’s something special about a community that runs together. Every step of this 5k was a reminder we don’t walk, or run, our journey alone.
Join our training sessions in Morecambe
Join us for a 9-week training programme by Morecambe Community Runners, sponsored by The Well Communities in order to prepare yourself for the Bay 5K Run. The Couch to 5K plan is designed to get you off the couch and gradually work you up to running 5K.
In just nine weeks we take absolute beginners and make them experienced runners. There are two sessions per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and an additional session to do at your leisure. The first session starts on Tuesday 7th of July at 6.30 pm, meeting at the Morecambe Battery.
