The Head of Finance will play a pivotal role in leading and strengthening financial management across two entities. As a key member of the senior leadership team (SLT), you will provide financial insight, ensure robust financial controls, and support the Director of Finance and Business in delivering strong financial governance. You will lead financial reporting and compliance processes, oversee a high-performing finance team, and contribute to business growth and stability.

This role will work across both People First and The Well Communities, who work in partnership across the North of England. We are passionate about our values of equality, respect, and inclusion. The Finance Officer plays a key role in supporting the charity’s day-to-day financial operations. Working as part of a team of Finance Officers, the postholder will contribute to a range of core finance functions, with specific responsibilities to be agreed after appointment. This is a collaborative role within a supportive finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager and using Sage 50 to ensure accurate and efficient financial processing.

Confidential – Development Officer

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (flexible, includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays)
Pay scale: £27,500 per annum
Accountable to: Operations Manager
Contract: Fixed term contract until 31st March 2026 (with the potential to extend, subject to funding)
You’ll lead a small team to provide one-to-one and group support to people who are struggling with alcohol but aren’t engaged with treatment services.Your work will be trauma-informed, assertive, and centred on prevention, education, harm, reduction and recovery.
This role includes out-of-hours support, community outreach, mentoring, partnership working, supervision of other outreach workers, and promoting recovery in underserved.

Location: South Cumbria

As an Operations Manager you will be required to directly manage/develop a range of commissioned services, including supported housing, subcontracts and new enterprises on behalf of the Well Communities CIC across our service footprint in Cumbria with a specific focus on Westmorland & Furness. We provide interventions to facilitate long term behavioural change within the substance misuse, mental health, and wellbeing fields. We adopt a mid-point allegiance, which means we work with voluntary and statutory treatment providers to build the skills and capacity of people with lived experience to coproduce/deliver the services through coaching, micro employment, and volunteering.

Contract: 1 Year
As a 12-step Behavioural Change Facilitator/ Supported Housing Colleague, you will have a specific remit to work with an identified cohort of service users with multiple, complex needs. Under the leadership of the Tenancy Sustainment Manager, you will assist in the provision of effective, high-quality intensive housing management and support services to vulnerable individuals with little social or recovery capital.
The cohort includes individuals with additional support needs including offending behaviour, domestic violence, substance misuse and mental ill health, making them vulnerable to homelessness. Supporting individuals in assessing their needs to identify opportunities to engage them creatively and actively with support to facilitate the practical skills, personal growth and development necessary to live independently.
A 12-step recovery program will form a key part of a holistic approach to recovery and wellbeing and the experience of participation in such models of recovery is essential to this post.

Volunteer Van Driver
Location: Barrow & Kendal
Hours: 7 hrs per Week on a Saturday
Accountable to: Tenancy Sustainment Manager
We are looking for a volunteer who can help assist our community members to take members to the Saturday hub in Lancaster. If you like variety and want to meet new people, this could be the role for you! Our community relies on our volunteers to keep them running successfully. But one thing that never changes is that we need volunteers to help us to spread the power of kindness.
Duties include:
Saturday – Transporting residents to our hub in Lancaster and collection, returning to the hub in Morecambe.
An opportunity to be part of The Well Communities CIC and the knowledge that you are making a positive difference to people’s lives.
Requirements:
· A clean driving licence and able to drive a 15-seater minibus.
· Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment.
